Dr. McCandless is attending an experts meeting with the United Nations on developing “An Accountability Framework for Conflict, Violence and Disaster in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.” The workshop is taking place from 17-19 June in Glen Cove, and it aims to set out an accountability framework and recommendations for targets and indicators relating to how conflict, violence and disaster can be incorporated into the post-2015 Development Agenda. She will be speaking on a panel sharing perspectives on indicator settings and priorities.
Dr. McCandless also has a new publication out, in the current issue of Global Governance 19 (2013) entitled “Wicked Problems in Peacebuilding and Statebuilding: Making Progress in Measuring Progress through the New Deal.” The article assesses the state of understanding and practice in measuring peacebuilding and statebuilding, whether the international community is making progress in this area, and the ways in which the New Deal and International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS) is supporting this endeavor. Dr. McCandless has been participating on the Indicator Working Group of the IDPS for over a year, which is developing indicators to measure progress against the New Deal’s Peacebuilding and Statebuilding Goals. http://www.pbsbdialogue.org/[feather_share skin=”wheel” size=”24″]
