Interim Dean Mary Watson

“The journey you are embarking upon is one that I hope will challenge you in the best sense of the word: to meet peers and faculty who will become your lifelong learning community, to help you find insights to the burning questions that brought you to graduate school and to this room tonight, and — most importantly — to explore questions about things you have not even thought of yet. If we are successful, and if you stretch and grow, the alchemy of your New School experience will shape your life in ways you cannot yet imagine.”

Other speakers included The New School president David Van Zandt, Executive Dean of The New School for Public Engagement David Scobey, Director of Student Affairs Lauretha Slaughter, and several Milano alumni:

“The opportunities are here at The New School, and your education is what you make of it.  Reach out. Meet people in unexpected places. Connect with faculty. Work on research projects. Engage with field projects, practicum, and lab work. Take courses across the university. Work hard. Take risks. And most of all… Enjoy.”
