TjBOCka3Practice-Based Work at SGPIA: As a student in the International Field Program in South Africa in 2013, Yael interned with the online magazine GroundUp, where she wrote pieces that were picked up by other South African media outlets like Africa Check and the Daily Maverick. Yael returned to Cape Town a year later to serve as the International Field Program student coordinator.  

Faculty Collaboration: Professor Sean Jacobs, who served as Yael’s faculty advisor, encouraged her to make her first steps in American journalism after moving to the U.S. from Tel Aviv, Israel, where she is originally from. Yael states, “He also pushed me to learn and hone various skills while in the program, which is how I found myself exploring radio that is now my passion and full time job.”
