Alumna Sherin Bennett ’11 #100WordsOrLess

The New School is #100YearsNew: 1919-2019. This is our inspiration for asking Milano community members to answer the question (in 100 words or less): “So, what’s new with you?” Here’s what alum Sherin Bennett responded in exactly 100 words.

Sherin Bennett
Policy, MS 2011
Senior Housing Finance Consultant
California Housing Partnership

Before Milano, I shifted from engineering to theatre to academia. At Milano, the economy crumbled as I sat in my first econ class. How can finance be used for good? Affordable housing. Found my love of teaching as a TA, tackled big questions in CDFL and Policy lab. Post-Milano, it’s been NYC government to big bank to a California nonprofit, where I help nonprofit developers get funding to build housing. My brain is tax law, regulations, and numbers. I enjoy training others in my industry. I find solace on my bike, in the hills, along the ocean. And in tacos.
