Academic Work at SGPIA: Emily conducted research on “Frameworks for Assessing Resilience” on countries such as Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and South Sudan under the guidance of SGPIA professor Erin McCandless. Emily also focused on programmatic approaches to peacebuilding and conflict analysis while integrating her experience and interest in education.

Practical Experience While Studying at SGPIA: In 2011 Emily participated in the International Field Program in Liberia, working with the Open Society Initiative of West Africa‘s Peacebuilding and Education team. Emily also worked with Interpeace to complete an independent practicum project.

Past Work: In a past position with the International Rescue Committee, Emily conducted violence prevention research for the United Nations Development Program and developed tools and training materials for the University of Nairobi’s Graduate Program in Education and Emergencies.
