FIELD TRIP TO THE BROOKLYN NAVY YARD

Join the Milano School’s Public and Urban Policy program for a field trip to the
Brooklyn Navy Yard! Once an active shipyard, it has since been repurposed as a
mission-driven industrial park, home to over 300 businesses and 7,000
employees. The Yard is a well-known model of contemporary urban industrial
development that creates and preserves quality jobs and connects the local
community with its economic opportunities.
During this visit, the group will get a personalized 90-minute driving tour of the
300-acre Navy Yard facility, led by David Ehrenberg, President and CEO of the
Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation. The tour will start at the
Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92 — an exhibition and visitor center that
chronicles the site’s historical and cultural significance. The group will then get a
guided tour through some of the Yard’s 40+ building sites.
Join Professor Rachel Meltzer, Chair of the Public and Urban Policy M.S.
program, for lunch at a local restaurant following the tour.
