Darrick Hamilton, Professor of Economics and Urban Policy at Milano and NSSR and Director of Milano’s Doctoral Program, is back in the news—this time in Slate, where a report by him and William Darity of Duke University was referenced by Chief Political Correspondent Jamelle Bouie. Bouie highlights Hamilton and Darity’s report demonstrating that “the racial wealth gap was not produced by supposed black pathology and cannot be closed by individual effort.” Rather, echoing Hamilton’s work, the cause is “structural,” he writes.
