laith6Academic Work at SGPIA: Laith incorporated his own original research into a number of courses that focused on emerging trends in terrorism, leading him to write numerous essays on terrorism and security. Specific topics of focus included a comparison of contemporary jihadi terrorism to the late 1800s/early 1900 anarchist terrorism, and a neo-realist approach that argued the improbability of establishing unified global governance in light of the growing threat of terrorism.

Current Work: As Director of Middle East and North Africa Research at Flashpoint, Laith oversees the Jihadist Threat Intelligence service and also serves as the lead on all primary-source research into Deep and Dark Web networks used by terrorist groups and their supporters. Laith brings this expertise to an additional role as an on-air counter-terrorism analyst for NBC News.
