International Rescue Committee (IRC)

About
Background:

Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading non-sectarian, non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. Committed to human dignity and self-reliance, the IRC serves as a symbol of hope and renewal for those who have taken in search of freedom.

Scope of Work:

The Resource Management-Prevention of Exploitation and Abuse team will work with the Global Advisor for the Prevention of Exploitation and Abuse to assess, gather and review materials and resources available on exploitation and abuse. The consultants will need to be familiar with HQ materials on the Prevention of Exploitation and Abuse, and will access materials being used by the IRC network and bring these resources together. This will require work with country programs and technical teams to determine what resources have been developed and are or have been used in the programs with their work. The consultant will then research other organizations and networks to determine other resources. The consultant will evaluate IRC materials to advice the Global Advisor on materials that are inconsistent with the IRC message or with the Secretary General’s Bulletin, advise on what tools or resources should be replicated for the network, develop an inventory or catalogue of materials and develop a resource list of other organizations or tools. The consultant will work with the Global Advisor to develop a toolkit of resources that can be used by all programs and develop a system to ensure periodic review and tracking of new materials.

Essential Functions:

  • Research and review websites with materials and resources relating to the Prevention of Exploitation and Abuse.
  • Collaborate with IRC Technical Units and Country Programs to collect materials and resources relating to the Prevention of Exploitation and Abuse.
  • Develop an inventory or directory of available resources.
  • Evaluate materials for consistency and application.
  • Design an effective strategy to disseminate materials through the intranet or other viable source.
