Promotion and Protection of Gender Rights Through Women’s Political Participation (UNFPA)

Organization: United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

About
The Paper will explore and highlight how women’s political participation at the grassroots have assisted in delivering some key gender health outcomes at the national level (for instance, via policy-setting and resultant implementation, including via incorporation in national budgets for delivering quality health care and access to maternal health services for women and girls).

Students will be expected to study country cases like Rwanda, Sweden, etc and a broad swathe of countries from both the global north and south to look at the enabling conditions (or lack thereof) that have made it possible for women to participate in politics and to bring about lasting changes in delivering quality and affordable health outcomes for the benefit of girls and women.
