Academic work at SGPIA: Brittany took full advantage of SGPIA’s access to the New School for Social Research (NSSR) and New York University (NYU) to shape her research interests and take courses focused on the politics of expertise, non-Western approaches to the world, and South African history and culture. Brittany lists the following faculty members as mentors: Victoria Hattam (New School for Social Research), Andrew Arato (New School for Social Research), Michael Ralph (New York University), Antina Von Schnitzler (SGPIA), and Stephen Collier (SGPIA). Brittany’s studies culminated in a thesis, “When Obama Met Gaddafi: Race, Intervention and Revolt.”

Practical Experience While Studying at SGPIA: Brittany worked as a research assistant for Antina von Schnitzler and served as the managing editor of Progressive Pupil, a multimedia platform created by Milano professor Robin Hayes. Brittany was also a committed campus activist, organizing with LGBTQI students and students of color for a more inclusive and equitable university.
