Thanks to the Civic Engagement Fund, Progressive Pupil’s New Leaders for Social Change program participants Xiomara Pedraza and I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to accompany Milano management professor Robin J. Hayes to the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) in Los Angeles. While there, we assisted with community outreach promoting the world premier of her feature documentary film Black and Cuba. The New Leaders for Social Change provides mentorship and hands-on experience to students at The New School who are committed to careers advancing social change. The program is a prime example of The New School’s dedication to supporting and equipping a generation of students with the tools necessary to contribute to their communities, both on-campus and off.
