Alumnus Timothy Johnson ’09 Promoted to Chief Strategy and Impact Officer

United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA) announced the promotion of Milano Alumnus Timothy Johnson (Nonprofit Management ’09) to chief strategy and impact officer (CSIO). In his new position, Timothy will aid the organization in its fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in the National Capital community. 

“Over the last 5 years, Timothy has been instrumental in leading our most valued community partnerships, all of which have provided positive opportunities and benefits for the residents we serve,” said Rosie Allen-Herring, president and CEO, United Way National Capital Area. “We are proud of his accomplishments and value his leadership within our organization and community.” 

Prior to his promotion, Timothy served as vice president, community impact for United Way NCA for 5 years. He is a veteran nonprofit and public sector professional who has dedicated most of his career to the pursuit of eradicating poverty in urban settings. Specifically, he has worked as director of income at United Way of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey, program officer at the Robin Hood Foundation, the New York City based philanthropy; and served as the director of workforce development initiatives at United Way of New York City where he managed the day-to-day workforce development activities of the agency, chiefly responsible for managing $30 million in workforce development initiatives.  

Before entering the nonprofit sector, Timothy worked in public service in various roles at the New York City Departments of Employment and Small Business Services, and Workforce Investment Board. He has extensive workforce and youth development experience as well as a broad background in program management and operations.
