Zamira DjabarovaAcademic work at SGPIA: Zamira discovered a special interest in social and economic development in the variety of coursework she took at SGPIA. Professors Stephen Collier, Michael Cohen and Everita Silina advised her along the way. “What I found most helpful in the SGPIA program was the accessibility of professors and their familiarity with each student,” she says. “This in turn allowed me to have meaningful conversations both academically and about career choices.”

Professional experience: In addition to her role at UN Women, Zamira completed an array of highly competitive intern- and externships at the United States Department of Labor, The Center of Constitutional Rights, and Earth Rights International, where she worked on international human rights litigation and corporate accountability.

Current work: Zamira sees law school as a continuation of her career and hopes to integrate her development experience with law. She reflects, “Litigation can be used not just as a one-time win, but as a long-term contribution toward development by demanding dialogue between workers and corporations.”
